All Purpose Robotics BoosterPack
A good friend of mine, Cruz Monrreal, has just released the design files for his new all purpose robotics boosterpack. If you are into robotics, or really any sort of control of the physical world with the digital I would recommend giving it a look.
It has a ton of connections for everything from Bluetooth, to XBee, to SDCard, to Servo Control, to Solenoids, to smart charging, to motion control. The shortlist, verbatim from the website: http://e2e.ti.com/group/universityprogram/students/m/students_repository/665163.aspx
- All in one solution for hobbyist-level robotics
- Direct control over four motors, six servos, and a host of encoders, IO, and ADC pins available
- Built in Bluetooth and XBee capabilities
- Capable of powering Beaglebone off of same power supply (assuming capable enough battery)
- Built in IMU for motion-based navigation
- Built in MicroSD Card socket available for reading config files or collecting data
- Profile just how well your Robot performs with the built in Power Monitor
- Built in N-Mosfets allow for driving high power sources (Solenoids, Relays, etc…)
- Capable of charging a smartphone in a pinch (Tested, proven, verified.)
Anywho, he has posted the design files to GitHub, so if you would like to get a board made for yourself all you need to do is download the .brd file and send it off to OSHPark.com to get made.
